Best Luxury Canada Itineraries: 7, 10 & 14-Day Routes
Planning a luxury Canada itinerary is primarily a question of time: how much of Canada can you experience in 7, 10, or 14 days, and which destinations deserve the most? This guide presents GDtours' most-booked luxury Canada routes, designed after over a decade of operating private tours across Western Canada.
The single most important rule:
Give Banff and the Canadian Rockies more time than you think they need. First-time visitors routinely allocate one night and wish they had planned for three. The Rockies are not a landscape that reveals itself quickly — Moraine Lake alone justifies a sunrise start, and the Icefields Parkway drive to Jasper is best done slowly, with stops, not rushed in a half-day transfer.

Itinerary design principles for luxury Canada touring
- East-to-west vs west-to-east: Most international visitors arrive into Vancouver and travel east toward the Rockies. Reversing this (Jasper first, Vancouver last) is possible but requires a reorientation in vehicle positioning.
- Moraine Lake vehicle access: In summer (late May to October), the Moraine Lake road requires advance vehicle reservation. GDtours handles this. Without it, you take a shuttle — and you don't control arrival time.
- Don't rush the Rockies: Two nights minimum in Banff; one night in Jasper. The Icefields Parkway should be a dedicated travel day, not a two-hour transfer.
- Victoria timing: Butchart Gardens is best visited in the morning (smaller crowds, better light). Evening fireworks (Saturday) require an overnight stay.
