Why International Travelers Choose GDtours

Our Premium Fleet

Every vehicle in our fleet is late-model, immaculately detailed, and fully insured. GDtours operates a range of chauffeur-driven luxury vehicles to suit any party size. Solo travelers and couples typically choose our executive sedan or standard SUV. Families and small groups of up to five guests often prefer the 2025 VW ID. Buzz — a 100% electric luxury microbus with panoramic windows and a whisper-quiet ride ideal for British Columbia's scenic routes. Groups of six or more traveling with luggage or ski equipment are best suited to the large SUV with three rows of seating and generous cargo space. For corporate groups, wedding parties, and extended families of up to fourteen guests, our luxury Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van provides executive seating, USB charging at every position, and walk-in cabin height. All vehicles are matched to your party size by our reservations team at the time of booking.

Planning Your Western Canada Trip

If you are an international traveler planning a visit to British Columbia, here is essential information to help you prepare:

Getting Here — YVR as Your Gateway

YVR Vancouver International Airport is the primary gateway to Western Canada, welcoming over 26 million passengers annually. Direct flights connect YVR to major cities worldwide including London Heathrow (LHR), Tokyo Narita (NRT), Shanghai Pudong (PVG), Delhi Indira Gandhi (DEL), Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD), Dubai International (DXB), Frankfurt am Main (FRA), Seoul Incheon (ICN), Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji (BOM), San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), and New York JFK (JFK). The airport is located in Richmond, approximately 25 minutes from Downtown Vancouver, and features a dedicated international terminal with duty-free shopping and currency exchange.

Currency

Canada uses the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) are accepted virtually everywhere. Contactless payments including Apple Pay and Google Pay are widely supported. Currency exchange is available at YVR, major banks, and hotels throughout Vancouver.

Visa & Entry Requirements

Citizens of many countries require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to Canada. The eTA is a quick online application (typically approved within minutes) and is valid for up to five years. Citizens of the United States do not need an eTA but must carry a valid passport. Visitors from countries requiring a traditional visa should apply through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) well in advance of travel. Always check the latest requirements on the official Government of Canada website before your trip.

Tipping Customs

Tipping is customary in Canada. For private chauffeur services, a gratuity of 15–20% of the fare is appreciated but never mandatory. Our quoted prices do not include gratuity, giving you the flexibility to tip at your discretion. Restaurant tipping in Canada is typically 15–20% of the pre-tax bill.

Seasonal Guidance

June to September (Peak Summer) — Long daylight hours, warm temperatures (20–28°C / 68–82°F), ideal for sightseeing, hiking, whale watching, and wine touring. This is peak cruise season in Vancouver, with ships docking at Canada Place daily. Book transfers early for the best availability.

December to March (Ski Season) — World-class skiing and snowboarding at Whistler Blackcomb, Grouse Mountain, and Cypress Mountain. Temperatures in Vancouver hover around 2–8°C (36–46°F), while Whistler sees regular snowfall. Our vehicles are winter-equipped and our drivers are experienced in mountain conditions. This is also the season for festive holiday lights, Christmas markets, and New Year celebrations.

April–May & October–November (Shoulder Seasons) — Fewer crowds, lower prices, and stunning seasonal transitions. Cherry blossoms blanket Vancouver in April; autumn foliage paints the North Shore mountains in October. Excellent value for travelers with flexible dates.
